Remember, these are all national averages. For a while, most of my purchase files were closing in about 35 days. Since June of this year, things have been taking longer, largely due to appraisal delays. It is unusual that the dreaded TRID concerns have cause any significant issues, but getting the final piece of the approval has become a slightly longer process.

So while you might well be clear to close in less than the national average 50 days, it’s still helpful to understand some of the reasons why things are taking longer than the industry is used to.

The BEST way to minimize delays – talk to your mortgage professional, early and often. Return requested paperwork as quickly as possible, and try to remain patient with the process.
