Mortgage Loan Officers: What does it take to succeed?
With 15 years in the industry, I’ve thought a lot about what it takes to be successful as a mortgage professional. I’ve watched my own career unfold as well as those of many colleagues, and I’ve often noticed common threads that link the top professionals in the field. What I’ve come to realize is that it’s not one specific skill or trait that points towards success, but rather a more overarching mindset. The loan officers who approach their work from an entrepreneurial perspective are often the ones who excel.
Taking an entrepreneurial approach to your mortgage business can show up in countless different ways. We all have different strategies and styles that allow us to shape and customize this approach. The good news is that whether you’re just getting started as a loan officer, or you’re well established and focused on growth, there’s always more to learn. And that’s exactly why I decided to start this blog.
I think the more that we exchange ideas, share what we know, and engage with fellow professionals, the better we can do the work we love. I hope this blog can be a place to facilitate all of these things. My main goal is to delve into the entrepreneurial side that loan officers can tap into to thrive, and I also plan to touch on how loan officers can best market to a millennial audience. For mortgage professionals who truly want to grow a successful business, it’s essential to excel with this powerful demographic.
So, what would you like to hear about? Are there elements of being an entrepreneurial loan officer you’d like to learn more about? Are there specific challenges you’re facing with your millennial marketing strategy? I’d love to hear your questions and suggestions, and I hope to read your thoughts in the comments section of these posts as well.
Stay tuned for my first post next week.
